STX Business Group conducted aggressive marketing activities to earn new orders at a shipbuilding exhibition in Shanghai in an attempt to break through the recession of the shipbuilding industry.

The group announced that it joined Marintec China 2009, held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre from December 1 to 4 to do promotional activities in various ways.

Marintec China 2009 is the largest biennial shipbuilding exhibition in China. This year, the event attracted many participants from Japan and Europe as well as major shipbuilding companies in China.

Many affiliates of STX Group including STX Shipbuilding & Offshore, STX Engine, STX Heavy Industries, STX Enpaco, STX Dalian and STX Europe took part in the exhibition to display a wide range of items such as cruise ships, LNG FPSO units, Marine Diesel Engines and other various shipbuilding parts.

In particular, STX Dalian, STX Group¡¯s shipbuilding complex in China, presented bulk carriers, tankers, PCTCs, drill ships and other diverse ship models, focusing on portfolios tailored to shipbuilding strategies in China.

Assistant manager Kim Wan-seok of STX Enpaco participated in the show and said, ¡°Though the global shipbuilding market has suffered from lack of new contracts, the shipbuilding companies around the world demonstrated their effort to make a breakthrough with this event.¡± ¡°I am proud of my company because it raised its status in China after completing the construction of the STX Dalian shipbuilding complex,¡± he added.

Meanwhile, STX Business Group has participated in a series of global shipbuilding exhibitions this year, and implemented proactive marketing strategies to fight against the recession caused by the global financial crisis.

In April, STX Business Group showed a number of high value-added ships at Sea Asia 2009 in Singapore, the largest shipbuilding exhibition in Asia. In May, its major affiliates unveiled models using top-notch technologies for the field such as LNG carriers, LNG FPSO units, offshore plants and chemical plants at Gastech 2009 in Abu Dhabi, the largest international exhibition for gas industries.

In addition, STX group carried out promotional activities targeting ship owners at Norshipping 2009, one of the major mega-maritime shows, in June, and at Kormarine 2009, Korea¡¯s largest shipbuilding exhibition, in October respectively.

A group official said, ¡°This year, the global shipbuilding and shipping industry has gone through difficulties triggered by the international economic crisis and STX group has participated in a variety of exhibitions and showed its own competitive technologies to receive new orders.¡° ¡°We will seek various opportunities to use face-to-face marketing strategies for major ship owners and fully prepare for increased new orders in the future,¡± the official added.
