August 19, 2009

STX Offshore and Shipbuilding received the '7th Best Corporation Award' on August 19th, presented by the Korea Academic Society of Business Administration each year to the enterprise achieving the best management performance.

The largest scale domestic administration seminar, part of an integrated scientific conference, selects an enterprise attaining the highest possible management performance and presents it with the 'Best Corporation Award' annually.

The Korea Academic Society of Business Administration explained it selected STX Offshore and Shipbuilding after recognizing STX Business Group's efforts regarding the development of overseas markets, as well as its global management for the expansion of new growth, which it said greatly contributed to Korea's economy and shipbuilding industry.

In addition, the Korea Academic Society of Business Administration said its decision was based on STX Offshore and Shipbuilding's contribution to the development of the Korean shipbuilding industry, recognizing the fact it had built approximately 700 ships in the past 40 years and is one of the four major global shipbuilders, a position which has helped it secure global competitive power in the design and construction of high value added ships such as LNG carriers, large container ships, VLCCs, etc.

Kang Duk-soo, who as Chairman of STX Business Group had the honor of receiving the award, expressed that the company attained its position by converting crisis into opportunity, citing the challenging spirit that only the best could survive. He also added that STX Business Group would firmly solidify its position as an integrated global shipbuilding company by continuously securing orders despite the forecast depression in the shipbuilding market, and that the company would continue to contribute to the development of the national economy as well as local communities.
